Rick started his Martial Arts training in 2000

I joined because my son joined and I stayed with it because of what I found in the Martial Arts for myself.

In the beginning I resisted the training because I thought it was about fighting and violence but what I have found is that Martial Arts is about peace, and I have found peace for myself through my training.

When I started, I had a very bad temper but, through training, I have learned to focus on what is important and let go of the little things that would upset me. I do not get angry anymore. I am at peace with the world now from my Martial Art training. This is from the philosophy, reading the required books and through discussion with the students and Master.

From training my confidence has grown and I feel more comfortable with who I am as a person. This has had a great impact at work as well. I find I get less stressed in crisis situations. My thoughts are more focused and I am clearer in making decisions.

Karate keeps me in good shape. It's a tremendous workout and I don’t think I’ve ever been in better shape. I love doing forms to start my day. The self-defense techniques give me more confidence that I can protect my family.

My life is more satisfying and complete than before I started training.
